This is my best attempt at translating a very good blog by Jocelle Cauvier, a Quebec journalist who is following the story of the return of the Nordiques to the NHL:

I have been following the Coyotes saga for several years. I cannot help but smile when I read something straight out of "Alice in Wonderland". This suggests to me that some journalists live in a parallel world completely disconnected from reality.
How many times have they announced the sale of the Coyotes? Jamison has probably bought the team a dozen times. So either there are dubious informants somewhere, or there are journalists who took shortcuts ...
Of course, a journalist is first and foremost a human being. So we see all types: the unrealistic optimist, the pessimist unto death, the partaker of rumours, the one that discredits the work of his colleagues, the docile NHL representative, the one who always retracts, the one who seeks his own glory and does not leave out anything, etc..
In defense of journalists, I confess that Daly and Bettman always leave room for interpretation. But why not use a little caution before asserting that it is a "done deal"? Does looking for a scoop cause one to lose sight of a purpose of journalism - to inform?
There are very good journalists in Quebec. We all have our favorites, those who showed more credibility over the years, and did not fall into the traps mentioned above. And of course others who have an interest in doing their homework with their "close sources".
I was sometimes criticized for my unwavering optimism in this saga. If I am optimistic, it is not based on any feminine intuition related to hormone fluctuations. I have followed hockey since I was 6 years old. In addition, I have followed the Coyotes saga since its inception, just as I followed the saga of the Thrashers. When you look at it as a whole, everything points to a move this year in Quebec. Of course, I could be wrong, and I will be the first to make my mea culpa. With Bettman, anything is possible. But the next logical step would see our fleur d'elisés fill the Coliseum this fall.
It would be so easy for Bettman to cut short the rumours - To make a strong response, categorical, statement leaving no room for interpretation. It has not bothered him in the past. Bettman is a lawyer by profession, so keep in mind that every word is weighed. We saw a clear opening in his words, and those of Daly, in recent weeks. Which is huge when you consider their character.
With regards to his denial of the rumors, do not forget that he had done the same, 10 days before the Thrashers' move. True North in Winnipeg had also categorically denied being in talks with the NHL. Does It remind you of a twitter message of Quebecor?
There were leaks from Aubut, leaks from Labeaume. The obvious discomfort and ill-concealed joy of PKP (Pierre Karl Peladeau) in an interview. Rumors that burst from all sides (as in Winnipeg). The departure of Roy from the Ramparts (which will definitely have less visibility with the Nordiques around). And there is the acquisition of Gestev, emergency renovation work for the Coliseum to be ready this fall. We are talking about concrete!
Then there is Seattle ... It seems that the Coyotes were intended to move to Seattle this season. But with the decision of the NBA, the plan fell through. Let's go by logic- if the Coyotes were moving to Seattle, obviously there was no potential buyer in Phoenix (because we know the obstinacy of Bettman for the Phoenix market). So the move to Seattle is canceled, and then they try to make us believe that, miraculously, Bettman has found a serious buyer? That he will not instead opt for plan B, Quebec?
This is one of many inconsistencies in this case that makes me think a move will happen this year.
Do not forget that the mayor of Glendale has changed. I do not see how Ice Edge will succeed where others have failed. Especially since the new board does not intend to cut essential services to support a hockey team.
But for me, the strongest argument: Do you really think someone will buy the Coyotes? A team that has had deficit after deficit? When you know that there is no reason why it's getting better in the future (even with the best marketing in the world)? This is not a hockey market. End of story. Of course there were Jamison and other smoke screens ... But Bettman is beginning to run out of friends to save time. I do not see how a millionaire or a group of millionaires would invest in this guaranteed shipwreck. The NHL is clear that it does not want an offer based on funding from the NHL. Otherwise, in default of payment, it would just end up with the team again. Whereas a person who has deep pockets has probably made a fortune based on his flair and business acumen. .. How could he embark on this financial suicide? Would you? To pose the question is to answer it.
Although Bettman sometimes act as an emperor, he can not ignore the governors of the league. And the governors were clear - this issue must be addressed. Both the governors as well as the players are in favor of relocating to Quebec.
And do not forget this word fraught with meaning, when Bettman said that "past mistakes should be corrected".
You can always find reasons to be negative. But honestly, I do not find any reason to be.
In this, Go Nordiques Go!
