Winnipeg has 13,000 season tickets, an 8,000 waiting list, and here is a very significant aspect of the current season ticket holders that doesn't get much attention:
Most groups are consortiums. Even if some drop out, there are more to take their place WITHIN the groups. Add to that there will be season ticket holders that will resell their tickets rather than give-up the right to have them. There may be some additional tickets showing up for resale but I predict we will see very little movement on the waiting list for the next 5 years. The franchise is secure for eternity.
This makes me very proud to be a Winnipegger, very grateful that I was lucky enough to get my ticket when the chance was there, and guilt free to not be one of those who convinced a moose ticket holder to take an extra 2 seats to get tickets before the general sale.
I have said this for over a year now: This is karma at its ultimate positive. Winnipeg got the shaft in 1996 but all that reversed when we got our team back.
When I look at where the Jets 1.0 sit today, I am speechless. They have no life, no soul, no home.
Look at Jets 2.0:
Chipman has at every turn been a model owner.
Chipman is an impressive man to meet - he oozes sincerity and leadership.
Thomson is the ultimate deep pocket partner - the richest the NHL has ever seen.
TNSE's culture is to be honest and true (that's what the compass really means - a moral compass)
If we had to lose a team for 15 years, we got every ounce of redemption possible with the return of the team, including the original name. (Thanks forever for not calling them the polar bears)
