What are your thoughts?
Do you see him here for the long term?...does he want to be here for the long term?...does he fit the Jets mold for the type of player they want?...

I think we are still getting to know who he is. I am not in a rush to make any judgement on who he is, or even how good a player he will ultimately be. You probably don't know what kind of a player and athlete/team-mate someone is until they are 24 or 25 - or even later for less skilled players.
I am also very skeptical about the news report from RDS. Without context or emphasis, it is really impossible to know what the other player actually saw or heard about Kane - even if it is true. Really, it could be just Kane's agent's strategy for negotiating. At this point, I still think that this latest rumour - which is what it is when you have 3rd hand information - is just a rumour. I am putting no weight at all on this in my own mind.

My thoughts about Kane were generic in questioning...trying to assess the lineup, he is the one player I wonder about...given the right circumstances he could bring us back a big haul, in a trade...truthfully before Saturday afternoon, I hadn't heard anything about the RDS report...it was just general wondering...much like Enstrom...if we could trade Enstrom (to Edmonton?) and move up significantly in the draft, would we?...so, just some general ramblings, that's all..

Yep. Interesting. If there was a big trade to be made, I would rather do something like Toby and Burmi for J Staal that trade Toby to move up a bit. There will be a good player on the board at 9. Kane / Staal / Wheeler would be beastly. That said, I don't see anything big happening and Kane needs to stay.

Seeing Burmi offered up in so many deals makes me cringe. He was rushed into the league. He hasnt been allowed to develop at the right pace. The Jets were wise to not give him 20+ minutes or top 6 ice this season.
As it was clear early on, Noel is trying to develop him into a great two way player. He has the skill. We all need to be patient with Burmi.
Imagine if he was on the Detroit roster from the get go. He wouldn't even be in the NHL until maybe this season. Then, over the next couple years you really see him blossom into a player we all know he can be.
TN is pulling back on the reigns and Im relieved to see it. They are trying to fix a kid who was thrown into the deep end.
Moving on to Kane.
He is a stud. A franchise player. 21 years old and 30 goals. It could have easily been 40 if you add an inch to some of the posts he hit and games missed. He disappeared at times but that is what you get from a 21 year old kid. He will be a top line winger for years. Lets hope its in Winnipeg.
He is also a magnet for rumours and innuendo. His personality and lifestyle automatically attract the hearsay. This will follow him around until he matures.
I enjoy watching these kids grow in front of us. We just need to cut them some slack every so often.
In years to come, we will be saying "Remember when Kane was dogged by all that bs?" or "I cant believe we wanted to see this guy get traded!"
Lets hope those remarks are made at Portage and Main during one of our many Stanley Cup celebrations.

Not saying I want Burmi to be traded. I am a fan, but I am not sold on him as centre long term and you gotta give to get. I would also rather Keep Kane than Burmi.
That said, I am perfectly content not trading anybody. The team won't be good for 2 or 3 years anyways and that is IF Scheifele, Kane, Burmi and Pavi all pan out.
