When was it, where was it, who played, and the final score.
My first NHL Jets game was December 3 1980 here in Winnipeg versus the NY Rangers. (Loss, 4-3) I was 12 years old and was there with my brother. This was during the famous 32 game winless streak. Looking back I guess that's why I was able to get a ticket. I had been to many WHA games, including an Indianapolis game where my brother pointed at some kid who was playing as an underage junior, wearing an audacious 99 on his back. (UPDATE: I looked that one up and it was one of 2 games in November 1978. The Indianapolis racers folded weeks later.)
I am sure I was at that game because I am sure we lost to the rangers and I'm sure Phil Esposito was there. Espo only played during the first 2 years of the Jets 1.0 history and I ruled out the other meetings because I know we lost the night I was there and that our team was a laughingstock.
Highlight of the night: During the second intermission, we snuck down to choice seats 3rd or 4th row, close to the home bench (in those days the teams were on opposite sides). In the third period, there was a face-off at centre ice and a slight delay from the officials so it was a quiet moment. sweedishgoon shouted out at Phil Esposito who was leaning in to take the face off "Hey, Esposito, you suck!" and god as my witness he looked up and said "Yeah? Well, we'll see you in the playoffs!"
Pretty awesome.

LOL! I think my first WHA game was very early in the first season of the WHA in the fall of 1972. Dad took me to the game. I clearly remember that Bobby Hull was not playing in that game, due the legal injunction that the Chicago Black Hawks had imposed on Bobby Hull that fall. The Jets had a talented ("skill") team, even without Hull, with Christian Bordeleau and Norm Beaudin. I think the Jets won the game. My memory isn't all that good beyond what I just wrote. I was 11 at the time. Dad took us to many Jets games over the years. My all-time favourite was watching the WHA Jets beat the Soviet NATIONAL team in the old arena. We watched from the old standing room area that was in the upper corners of the old arena, before they made the expansion for the NHL. That night Ulf Nilson was the best player on the ice. He seemed to be everywhere. The Nilson, Hedberg Hull line dominated the Soviets, and built a big lead in the game. The Soviets came back a little, but the Jets were never in any serious danger of losing. I think they won the game 5-3. Joe Daley was in net, Sjoberg played defense, and the Jets essentially beat the Soviets at their own game - puck control. I think that memory tops them all, for me!

I don't remember which one was my first game, they all kind of blended together. But one I really remember was apparently a pre-season game (I googled it) where Hannu Jarvenpaa (#13, which is also my number, as it's my birthdate, also on my New Jets Jersey, also Teemu's number) a Finnish forward (foreshadowing for Teemu possibly) scored four goals in a 7-4 win over the Minnesota North Stars in September of 1986 (I was 9 at the time).
My parents has season tickets in the old Winnipeg Arena in the upper deck (nose bleeds) row 4 or 5 on the attack blue line. It was great to see so many goals! I remember distinctly how LOUD it got when the Jets scored. Everyone was going nuts because this Finnish no-name player was popping in goal after goal. I also remember the "happy" (durnk) guys beside us starting a chant "YeeeHawww, Jarvenpaa!!" I loved it!
Ahhh, the memories!
Hannu Jarvenpaa, never really mounted to much more than that however.
